More About Me

I’m Tony Burns and I run i2i NZ. I emigrated to New Zeland in June 2009 and I am based in Christchurch.

I have over 20 years of experience with Rolls-Royce plc where I worked latterly as a lean business transformation leader. I am an accredited business performance coach and have been working with the team at i2i since 2004.

Having studied Engineering Science at Oxford University back in the 1980's, I started my working life as a trainee engineer with Rolls-Royce plc in Derby, UK. Over the course of 20 years, I enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career during which time I qualified as a management accountant and also became an accredited lean/6-sigma business improvement leader.

I spent my last eight years at Rolls-Royce working in the Civil Aerospace Operations business focussed on lean business transformation. During this time I helped to introduce significant changes to the way in which aero-engines are assembled, culminating in the adoption of flow-line production for most of the Trent engine family in Derby.

I started coaching formally around 5 years ago when my role included responsibility for the leadership development programme within Civil Aerospace Operations. That was also the time that I started to work with the team at i2i and commenced studying and applying the science of performance. I also gained accreditation as a business performance coach through the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring.

Over the last 5 years, I have obtained a great deal of satisfaction from helping individuals and teams improve their performance and generate real benefits for themselves and the businesses that they work in. I have also been able to help family and friends to achieve goals in their lives that have brought both happiness and acclaim.

I emigrated to New Zealand in June 2009 to start up the i2i New Zealand operation. I am based in Christchurch where I live with my wife and 2 children.

I am a keen sportsman and played football competitively until well into my 30's. During my early 40's I have enjoyed the challenge of Triathlon. I try to practice what I preach which results in setting myself challenging goals and since arriving here in New Zealand I have established the target of eventually completing an Ironman Triathlon and the “Coast to Coast” event.

I am a full member of the UK Institute of Management and a member of Business Mentors New Zealand.
